AGES 1-100?!

David’s work with senior audiences has been some of his most rewarding and satisfying to date.  His first show at an assisted care home set the stage for the others to come. Once there, he met a woman who was a bit confused with what David was trying to do.  “I tried to simplify the process and I had the participants help choose from the different stencils I brought, (they become the characters for the play), and a monkey and a car were two of the first cards drawn.  ‘Once there was an angry monkey,’ I said, ‘why was he angry?’ The woman answered, ‘He was angry because he was hungry because he ran out of bananas’. ‘That’s perfect’, I said, low blood sugar always makes monkeys a little crazy.’ ‘And’, she added, ‘his car ran out of gas!’  We were off and running. She told me she hadn’t drawn in 25 years and yet, here she was drawing a simple picture and participating in creating a story from start to finish. It was incredible to watch.”

With simple materials and David’s inclusive and entertaining style, Audiences use their imaginations to unlock the stories that are inside us all.
